- Brake Pad Thickness: You should be regularly taking a look to see how thick your brake pads are. To do so, simply look between the spokes of your wheels and locate your brake pad. If it appears to be less than a ¼ inch, it’s a sign that you're due for a new set of brake pads.
- Squealing or Scraping Noise: At the bottom of each brake pad, there are small metal hair-like bristles that make a squealing noise each time the brakes are engaged. These are designed to let you know when it's time to replace them, and they should not be ignored, as you’ll begin to damage your rotors, making the cost of repair even more expensive.
